CD RELEASES
BERNARD ALLISON

“Energized”

[Also available on DVD]

This great new live album from Bernard Allison, ENERGIZED documents his 2005 Fall European Tour. For years, he's been taking his band to Europe, keeping the famous family name alive and delivering outstanding live shows night after night – to the point that fans had begun to take him for granted.

But there was something special about this particular show and tour. There was electricity about the band from the very first notes they played that told you: This is going to be one for the ages. Was it the revamped rhythm section? Or was it a sign of personal victory – Allison demonstrating that he has fought his demons and come out on top? The band, tighter than ever, exuded joy from start to finish. They seemed to want to play forever.

This one leaves his fans wondering: Can it get any better than this?

OMAR & THE HOWLERS
"Bamboozled: Live in Germany"

[Also available on DVD]

Bamboozled: Live in Germany captures one of America's most respected blues bands live in Göttingen in the fall of 2005. For more than 30 years, Mississippi native Kent "Omar" Dykes has led this never-say-die trio, making them a mainstay of the Austin, Texas music scene. Clifford Antone, head of Austin-based Antone Records, once said of Dykes: ''Blues is not a kind of music that you can just learn. It is a feeling. You have to have roots, usually coming from great influences in music. Omar projects that when he is playing.''

Dykes’ roots are all over Bamboozled. The songs span his entire recording career. And whether it’s with his Bo Diddley-influenced "Magic Man," the John Lee Hooker-Tribute "Boogie Man" or in his vocal lineage, which can be traced back directly to Howlin' Wolf's midnight moan – Omar Dykes is not ashamed to admit he's part of a tradition. He plays blues, boogie and rock 'n' roll, without any musical frills or cheap showmanship.

"New Orleans Music in Exile" to Premiere Friday, May 19, 2006 on Starz InBlack

Starz Entertainment Group LLC will help bring music back to New Orleans with the premiere screening of its feature-length original documentary "New Orleans Music in Exile" on Saturday, May 13, 2006.

The day-long event begins with a public screening at 11:45 a.m. followed by an invitation-only screening at 2:30 p.m. both at the Landmark Theatre in the Canal Place Center. The day culminates with a private Benefit Concert Celebration at Tipitina's French Quarter at 5:30 p.m. featuring performances by famed New Orleans musicians including Irma Thomas, Kermit Ruffins, Theresa Andersson, ReBirth Brass Band and World Leader Pretend.

"New Orleans Music in Exile" will premiere exclusively on Starz InBlack at 7 p.m. ct. Friday, May 19, 2006, with an encore presentation on Starz, Saturday, May 20th at 12:00 p.m. ct.

The New Orleans event is part of Starz dual commitment to premiere the documentary which chronicles the horror and heartbreak of musicians who lived through the disaster and to help raise funds to benefit local musicians and junior and high school music departments throughout New Orleans.

Directed by noted music documentarian Robert Mugge (Last of the Mississippi Jukes, Blues Divas), "New Orleans Music in Exile" is a story of struggle, inspiration and the power of the Crescent City's music history. Musicians featured in the documentary include Dr. John, Cyril Neville, Kermit Ruffins, Irma Thomas, the Iguanas, the ReBirth Brass Band and others. In addition to performing, they share their personal stories of how Katrina affected their lives, scattering them to other cities, and how they are getting back on their feet. The film's co-producer is Diana Zelman.

Filming of "New Orleans Music in Exile" began two months after the muddy waters roiled by Katrina, drenched homes and neighborhoods like the Lower Ninth Ward, St. Bernard Parish, Treme' and Algiers, where many musicians lived, but were forced to leave, scattering them to other cities.

Viewers will see the devastation first hand. Blues singer Irma Thomas walks through her famous club, the Lions Den, which was destroyed by the storm and unfortunately will not be rebuilt. We also visit her soaked, soiled and severely damaged home. Kermit Ruffins talks about his lost possessions and move to Houston. Paul Sanchez of Cowboy Mouth shares how he has been living out of his tour bus. He says, "My home had ten feet of water and I had nine-foot ceilings. The first month was easy to keep your spirits up, because it was like, this adventure ... But now, we're over two months in and the fun's gone out of it and I just want to go home." Phil Frazer, leader of the ReBirth Brass Band says, "I lost a couple of cars and the roof was gone from my house. Both of our drummers, their houses were submerged under water completely. They lost everything."

People interested in contributing to help New Orleans musicians and music programs can send donations to Tipitina's Foundation, Attention: Music in Exile, 800 Baronne Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70113.

Sir Mick Jagger is to appear in the pilot episode of a new US TV sitcom.

The Rolling Stones star is filming a cameo role in New Zealand during a break in the band's world tour.

The comedy revolves around a gang of men who plot to rob the rock star, with Sir Mick featuring in various scenes, the Hollywood Reporter said.

The singer has made sporadic forays into film acting in the past 30 years, including lead roles in Performance and Ned Kelly in 1970 and 1992's Freejack.

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has undergone surgery in Auckland, New Zealand, after a fall in Fiji.

The operation was a "complete success" and Richards is up and talking with his family, said a statement from the band.

It said doctors decided to perform a "small operation" to remove pressure after Richards complained of headaches.

Richards, 62, was flown to New Zealand after reportedly falling out of a coconut tree. He was officially said to have suffered "mild concussion".

Nelson and his entire staff are overwhelmed by Gibson's support. The three year sponsorship agreement includes a guitar donation to help offset the organizations events and programs, website announcements, and monetary assistance.

Rock and Roll Legend Little Richard in Talks to Become a Judge on the New Reality Show America's Hot Musician

America's Hot Musician, the new "American Idol-like" show for musicians set to debut in January 2007 on Comcast, is in talks with rock and roll legend Little Richard to become one of the show's three judges.

Little Richard, who dubbed himself "the originator", "the emancipator" and" the architect of rock and roll" with vocal hits like "Tutti Frutti," "Long Tall Sally" and "Good Golly, Miss Molly", defined the dynamic sound of rock and roll. In addition, he is an exciting pianist whose legendary charismatic personality is tailor-made for this trendy television genre most identified with the program American Idol and its outspoken judge Simon Cowell.

"We are trying to tap into the psyche of the MTV/Hip Hop Generation and gain their interest in instrumental performance by showcasing musicians who not only possess musical ability, but who demonstrate a marketable presence that can lure young audiences, a young Little Richard if you will", says Gregory Charles Royal, the show's creative producer.

Would be stars, ages 16-28, are currently registering for the show at www.americashotmusician.org
