A charity auction at the event and online will help raise funds for BluesAid. Blues Aid is seeking from fellow blues artists the donations of an autographed item, memorabilia, or collectable. Donors to this auction will be recognized for their support by our partners in this event. BluesAid is an all volunteer organization with 100% of funds raised used to provide care for terminally ill artist and educational programs. West Coast Blues Hall of Fame & Awards Show On Saturday, March 18, 2006 Bay Area Blues Society and the City of Oakland will hold The West Coast Blues Hall of Fame & Awards Show. This annual event, honors blues, jazz and gospel artists for their contributions to the art form called Blues and to celebrate Black History Month. Ten extraordinary artists will be inducted into the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame and the Bob Geddins Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to the artist who has most influenced a generation of musicians. General Category Awards will be given to the best: blues singer of the year, blues guitar of the year, blues drummer of the year, etc. This years show will induct notables as Vernon Alley, Sly & the Family Stone, Maxine Howard, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Earl Watkins, Heartfield Brothers, Ruthie’s Inn Blues Club, The Right Kind, Bill Quarry, Lincoln Theatre, Hollywood Fats, Dalehart Johnson , Piney Clark and Billy Barnes to name a few.
