BLUES CD RELEASES

Blue Highway, - Angela Strehli

M.C. Records is proud to release Blue Highway,  Angela Strehli's first studio recording in seven years. It is true a tour de force which contains all of the elements which have forged her unique style, blues, americana and great songwriting.

DIVA LA GRANDE- Candye Kane

[1997 recording now in re-release] Candye Kane's third album is her breakthrough, the record where she finally perfected her blend of jump blues, rockabilly, and big-band swing, combined with her brassy, gleefully omnisexual persona and big-as-life voice. Besides the obvious personal anthems like “You Need a Great Big Woman”, “Gifted in the Ways of Love”, and of course, “All You Can Eat (And You Can Eat It All Night Long)”, Kane does more than credible versions of classics ranging from “I Got a Feelin'” to a Cajun-ized version of Lee Hazlewood's “These Boots Are Made for Walkin'”.

HELL CAN WAIT - Carlos Guitarlos

This is a feast of traditional American music forms and wry twists. The opening cut sounds like Delta country blues, but perhaps with a little Leon Redbone circa 1970's thrown in. From there the CD rambles through many forms, such as the Fats-Domino-style "Here I Am," the soul stylings (with Marcy Levy) of "I Found a Love," the Los-Lobos-style (with David Hidalgo) "Shake My Blue" and the Doug-Sahm-jukebox music style of "I've Been Drinking Again." But the songs are all Carlos originals, with a co-write credited to Levy and Top Jimmy here and there.

NEWS FLASH
RIVERWALK BLUES & MUSIC FESTIVAL - At Last!

February 9 -12th, 2006 are the new dates for the 19th annual Riverwalk Blues Festival in downtown Fort Lauderdale, FL . Wicked Hurricane Wilma dished out enough of her own blues by causing lots of damage to the South Florida area, and making it impossible for the festival to go on in November 2005 as originally scheduled. Well, that was then and this is now.  Since the onslaught, the area has recuperated and it is time to throw the long awaited BIG BLUES PARTY.

For those of you that are out of the area there is still plenty of time to make travel arrangements.   This is not a festival to miss.  The list of performers is one headliner after another.....THE FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS, PINETOP PERKINS, WILLIE "BIG EYES" SMITH, HUBERT SUMLIN, BOB MARGOLIN, ELVIN BISHOP, KENNY "BLUES BOSS" WAYNE, ROOMFUL OF BLUES. DOWNCHILD BLUES BAND, CHRIS BEARD, JOHN LEE HOOKER JR, OTIS TAYLOR, SHEMEKIA COPELAND, SAFFIRE, DELTA MOON, DETRIT WOMEN, SHARRIE WILLIAMS, THE BNIGHTHAWKS and on and on and on, plus a slew of South Florida's finest local bands.

Susan Tedeschi  House of Blues Radio Hour

This weekend Elwood Blues interviews soul/blues vocalist Susan Tedeschi. Hear songs from  "Hope and Desire"; her latest release which marks a substantial departure for the versatile artist. She puts a soulful, unmistakably personal spin on a heartfelt set of songs drawn from such diverse sources as Ray Charles ("Tired of My Tears"), the Rolling Stones ("You Got the Silver"), Bob Dylan ("Lord Protect My Child"),  Donny Hathaway ("Magnificent Sanctuary Band") and Fontella Bass ("Soul of A Man").
